SiNON Therapeutics is developing a drug delivery platform to improve the lives of those suffering with debilitating neurological diseases. To treat neurological diseases, therapies need to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB). SiNON has patented their nanoparticle, the Carbon Dot, which encapsulates drugs in a way that dramatically improves drug localization to the brain. The Carbon Dot is made of a non-metal compound carbon with a hollow core that can transport drug molecules, diagnostic markers or other substances into the brain. By increasing localization, drug dose can be reduced leading to reduced off target effects and toxicity risk. With this delivery platform, SiNON is in a position to facilitate drug development for a variety of central nervous system diseases that require drugs to cross the BBB.
