About:
SaponiQx is working to create safe and accessible vaccines to protect the health of populations worldwide. Adjuvants are a class of molecules that improve the magnitude, breadth and durability of vaccines. The adjuvant that SaponiQx is currently focusing on is QS-21, a key adjuvant component in vaccines for shingles, malaria and respiratory syncytial virus. QS-21 is traditionally however extracted from a limited supply of tree bark. Instead, SaponiQx is establishing the manufacture of cpcQS-21 using cultured plant cell source that prevents the reliance on the traditional tree-bark extract process. This work is fueled by SaponiQx’s adjuvant discovery program that merges synthetic biology with generative AI-enabled molecular design.
