SCiFi Foods is using bioengineering to create the next generation of meat alternatives. Factory farming is cruel and impacts the environment. Cultivated meat is animal meat produced by cultivating animal cells directly in bioreactors. SCiFi Foods is designing their cultured meat with the same taste, texture and nutrition as conventional meat while being sustainable. SCiFi’s first cow cells were taken from a small sample of muscle, and the cow was returned to its field. From those cells, SCiFi can create as many burgers as they like by growing the cells and then mixing them with plant-based ingredients. Currently, SCiFi is going through regulatory approval, expecting to launch commercially in 2024.
