The traditional method to produce speciality APIs often involve complex, expensive and environmentally damaging supply chains. River Stone has leveraged the power of synthetic biology to simplify the synthesis of APIs including alkaloid molecules such as Buprenorphine, Naloxone and Naltrexone. To achieve this, River Stone invented a synthetic pathway that uses a novel intermediate to produce alkaloid products - this enables APIs to be made that can be used for opioid overdose, alcohol use disorder and pain. With their platform, River Stone can also realize market-leading positions for other alkaloids.
