Their technology utilizes AI to generate enzymes that break down discarded polyester (PET) plastic into its building blocks: terephthalic acid (PTA) and mono-ethylene glycol (MEG). Their proprietary technology, Biopure™, uses engineered enzymes to achieve low-energy and low-cost breakdown of PET plastic. Protein Evolution aims to create a closed-loop system for polyester production, where recycled materials replace virgin fossil fuels, promoting a more sustainable production process.
