Orna Therapeutics is reshaping RNA therapeutics by developing a new class of engineered circular RNAs (oRNAs). The delivery of RNAs encoding therapeutic proteins to cells is a current strategy being investigated to treat various diseases. With delivery being a major hurdle, Orna has created their circular oRNAs to fit into various lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to efficiently deliver RNA to a range of cell types. Once packaged, LNPs traffic oRNAs to the appropriate place in the body where it is then safely released. By addressing the current limitations of linear mRNA therapeutics, such as low protein expression and high immunogenicity, Orna is creating a pipeline of therapies with far-reaching effects from oncology, genetic disorders to infectious disease.
