Custom Diagnostic Biosensors

Monod Bio is a young Seattle-based company developing custom de novo protein-based biosensors. They use a proprietary platform called LucCage, which combines engineering, biology, and machine learning. This platform allows for the rapid design and build of highly modular biosensing nanoswitches, essentially custom-designed proteins that emit light when they detect a specific target molecule. With their platform, they can create biosensors to detect a wide range of molecules, including proteins, toxins, and antibodies with faster development compared to traditional methods. Monod Bio’s biosensors use thermodynamic coupling of the analyte to sensor activation, requiring a single target binding domain, which simplifies the design and allows a direct readout.
