MOBILion Systems is developing technology to identify molecules that current instruments fail to detect. Many diseases lack a clear genetic underpinning and instead require the study of proteins, lipids and metabolites. These molecules are much harder to identify and characterize, slowing down biomarker discovery and therapeutic design. Based on Structures for Lossless Ion Manipulation (SLIM) technology, MOBILion’s solution for this is high-resolution ion mobility mass spec (HRIM-MS) analytical instruments. SLIM offers high resolution, high throughput and has a compact footprint achieving population scale studies in minutes. This enables researchers to detect and analyze molecules indicative of disease from minute sample quantities that are indistinguishable by current instruments.
