MicroByre is domesticating novel microbes for industrial biotechnology. Human activity has had a huge impact on climate and the environment, particularly due to the use of petroleum reserves. Intead, MicroByre is using bacteria to generate the chemicals and medicines currently made from petroleum. However, instead of sticking with the conventional E.coli species, MicroByre is using their platform to culture novel bacteria and to understand which species are most economically relevant to any given industrial process. This requires a broad skill set from microbiologists, molecular biologists, data scientists and computer scientists and the use of automation through robotics and genome modification.
