GC Therapeutics is using synthetic biology to program patients' cells into any cell type. Engineering the identity of a cell has a lot of potential as a new therapeutic modality as well as for cell therapies, transplants and testing new drugs. GCTx’s approach involves reprogramming patient-derived stem cells to make various cell types by discovering novel cell-differentiation recipes. The aim is to make this approach both efficient and scalable by dictating cell fates in a single step. In addition, GCTx is developing SuperCellsTM by tailoring cells for specific diseases.

Thrilled to have attended BioFuture for the third consecutive year! Last week, at the Cure. in New York City, #BioFuture 2024 gathered a remarkable community of trailblazers, disruptors, and investors from across the healthcare ecosystem to discuss the future of healthcare innovation.

The conference spotlighted impactful discussions on AI/ML, quantum computing, policy advancements, neuroscience, oncology, obesity treatments, longevity, biomanufacturing, cell and gene therapy, cardiovascular health, women’s health, and financing strategies. We explored the convergence of deep tech and deep science in drug discovery & development, diving into the forefront of healthcare transformation.

It was also the perfect opportunity to reconnect with fellow investors, founders, and ecosystem partners. Great to finally meet Parastoo Khoshakhlagh, Ph.D. in person and catch up with Tingting Zhang-Kharas, PhD, Silvia Garcia Codony, and Lynda Chin.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Kai-Hsin Chang and Dr. Azadeh Golipour to the GC Therapeutics leadership team!

Dr. Chang brings over a decade of experience as an experimental hematologist and stem cell biologist, with groundbreaking expertise in developing cell and gene therapies for serious diseases. She is also an inventor of Reni-cel, an investigational gene-edited autologous cell therapy for sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia.
 
As Head of Drug Development, SVP, Dr. Chang will oversee our drug development pipeline, translational research and operations, and regulatory strategies, driving forward our mission to deliver life-changing treatments to patients worldwide.

Dr. Golipour joins as Head of Technical Operations, SVP, with deep expertise in technical development, manufacturing, and the scale-up of cell and gene therapies. She has successfully led multiple programs through early- and late-phase clinical production globally. In her previous role, she was instrumental in building robust, scalable, and commercial-ready manufacturing platforms. 

At GC Therapeutics, she will lead the development of innovative manufacturing strategies to support the company's vision in bringing its groundbreaking technology to its full potential.
