Ascribe Bioscience is understanding the soil microbiome to develop products for natural crop protection. To improve food security, more non-toxic, biodegradable and non-GMO approaches are required. Using their proprietary discovery platform, Ascribe is applying the tools of metabolomics to the soil microbiome to identify the small molecules that mediate the beneficial interactions between soil microbes and crops. Ascribe’s products are shelf-stable, durable and more reliable under diverse field conditions than live microbes or complex mixtures. Their lead product, Phytalix®, is based on a natural molecule that primes a plant’s defense pathway and makes them more pathogen-resistant.
