The Gao Lab at Stanford have had to overcome these challenges in the development of the innovative Retained Endoplasmic Cleavable Secretion (𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘) platform, which allows protein secretion systems to achieve the same tuning capabilities seen in gene circuits but focused solely on proteins.

More #SynBioBeta2025 research goodness: Take a peek at this poster by Greg Lohman of New England Biolabs about phage engineering using synthetic mycobacteriophages created with Ansa’s help.

With a high GC content (60-70%) and large size (50 kb+), the mycobacteriaphage genomes make PCR amplification and DNA synthesis difficult, and the in silico designed parts rated too complex for phosphoramidite synthesis by multiple vendors

But Ansa was able to synthesize all of the fragments submitted without issue, and the cloned & sequence verified parts permitted easy generation of high-quality DNA for Golden Gate Assembly and the insertion of anti-defense genes, laying the groundwork for therapeutics against hospital acquired mycobacterial infections.
