Tune Therapeutics is manipulating the epigenome using therapeutics to treat diseases. The epigenome determines how, when and where genes are expressed and drives characteristic differences between healthy and diseased cells. Tune has developed their proprietary TEMPO genetic tuning platform to exploit the master conductors of gene activity allowing the volume of gene expression to be precisely controlled. TEMPO has the advantages of multiplexing as well as regulating genes in their natural context and involves two switchable elements - a DNA binding domain and an effector subunit. Genetic tuning via the epigenome is a new class of treatments that Tune believes has the potential to be used to treat common and chronic diseases.
