Inflammatix is developing immune response diagnostics to identify the presence of bacterial and viral infections. Biomarkers in blood can reveal if a patient is mounting an immune response to a pathogen, including infections that haven’t spread to the bloodstream yet and are often missed using pathogen-focused diagnostic methods. Inflammatix is creating point-of-care instruments that provide an accurate diagnostic for acute infections within 30 minutes by focusing on the immune response. The instruments in development, TriVerity for hospitals and BacVerity for clinics, are designed to identify the presence, type and severity of acute infections. This is important to ensure that smarter antibiotics are prescribed to patients to improve success and reduce the likelihood of antimicrobial resistance.
