Calyxt is engineering plants using synthetic biology to sustainably create innovative materials. Plants have the capacity to synthesize a diversity of compounds that have many industrial applications. Calyxt is harnessing this capacity by using their PlantSpring technology platform, combined with their bioreactor, the BioFactor, to rapidly prototype, produce and scale complex plant-derived compounds. This involves identifying the key genes in charge of metabolic pathways, using gene editing to engineer changes and metabolomics and genomics to ensure the desired compound has been created. Applications range from nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, pharmaceuticals to chemical industries, allowing customers to meet their sustainability goals.
